The Anchorage Petroleum Women's Association was the subject of a May 9, 2017 Alaska Public Radio article written by Elizabeth Harball. Read the article from the link: https://www.alaskapublic.org/2017/05/09/anchorage-petroleum-wives-club-welcomes-new-era-with-new-name/.
Effective June 1, 2017, the Anchorage Petroleum Wives Club will be known as "Anchorage Petroleum Women's Association." Our associated 501(c)3 organization, the Anchorage Petroleum Wives Foundation, will now be known as the "Anchorage Petroleum Women's Foundation."
At the April 26, 2017 APWC luncheon, the membership unanimously voted to rename the organization to the Anchorage Petroleum Women’s Association. The 2016-2017 Board of Directors will collaborate with the 2017-2018 Board of Directors to facilitate this name change process during this upcoming summer. Please be advised that, starting June 1, communication from this organization will be under the name Anchorage Petroleum Women’s Association. Although our name has changed, our mission has not. Under our new name, the Anchorage Petroleum Women’s Association will continue our mission of providing Anchorage-area women with opportunities for social contact, community involvement, and personal development. We are so pleased to announce that APWC's affiliated non-profit, The Anchorage Petroleum Wives Foundation, raised $39,272.44 for The Alaska Zoo, our 2016-2017 non-profit partner.
These funds will be put towards the Zoo’s Animal Outreach Program, which provides students the chance to interact with zoo educators and ambassador animals. Thank you to our members, as well as the many individual and corporate donors in the community, who helped make this possible! APWC is proud to announce that our affiliated non-profit, the Anchorage Petroleum Wives Foundation, raised $46,364.53 for our 2015-2016 non-profit partner, the Alaska Botanical Garden.
The Alaska Botanical Garden will use these funds to support educational programming for Anchorage School District (ASD) students and their families. In particular, ASD will use the funds to add Title 1 schools to the ASD 21st Century Learning Center After School Program and continue curriculum development for the program. We are proud to announce that the Anchorage Petroleum Wives Club
has been named the 2015 Non-Profit Partner of the Year by Beans' Cafe and the Children's Lunchbox. This distinction is awarded to a local community partner that meets the following criteria:
Gala Chair (2014-2015) Keryl Vincent and Deputy Chair Susie Macleod, along with APWC President Holly Lee and Board Member Zoe Smith, were recognized at the Volunteer & Partner Award Ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015. APWC's name will be engraved on the plaque that hangs year-round at Bean's Cafe. We remain so grateful to our members who wholeheartedly embraced The Children's Lunchbox as our chosen charity for 2014-2015. The efforts they made, whether it was volunteering at The Children's Lunchbox kitchen, working on the gala committee, donating money at our luncheons, or attending the gala event in February, came together to make support of this year's charity incredible. Thank you to The Children's Lunchbox and Bean's Cafe for this honor and the partnership we've had with them this year. We are humbled to have made a difference in our community and for the children this program serves. For more information about The Children's Lunchbox, please visit http://www.beanscafe.org/. APWC is proud to announce that our affiliated non-profit, the Anchorage Petroleum Wives Foundation, raised $122,292.77 for our 2014-2015 non-profit partner, The Children's Lunchbox.
The Children's Lunchbox will use the funds to support its weekend meal program, which on Fridays provides students in Anchorage School District (ASD) Title 1 schools with easy-to-prepare meals to eat during the weekend. |
