It's been a unique and tough year but we are very excited to announce that APWA's affiliated nonprofit organization, the Anchorage Petroleum Women's Foundation, raised $7,514.56 for our 2020-2021 Nonprofit Partner, Chugach Park Fund. The funds raised will be put toward their important work of improving access to all that Chugach State Park has to offer, while protecting and preserving the natural habitat with focus this year on the Little O'Malley Peak trail. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that donated to help APWA/APWF raise this amazing amount!! For access to Chugach Park Fund's Monthly Updates visit them here:

Despite all the restrictions and craziness APWA has been busy: members have participated in Monthly Gatherings, Ladies Nights by the fire, Elf on the Shelf, and gift wrapping for Covenant House. Our activity groups - Book Club, Games Night, Hike and Ski, Bible Study, Walk and Talk, Material Girls, and Golfing - have persevered. Our members and the community have generously supported our fundraising activities like Stretch for Chugach and Flamingo Flocking, to support our non-profit partner Chugach Park Fund. I believe these successes speak to the important role APWA plays in enriching the lives of our members through opportunities to Meet, Grow, and Give. Thank you!
The last Gathering of the year will be on May 19th from 6:30 to 7:30pm, and I encourage all of you to attend. In order to allow as many of our members to participate as possible we will hold this meeting on Zoom, and will offer the opportunity to order a meal box. We will present our final check to Chugach Park Fund, recognize our outgoing board members, swear in our new members, and hear from next year’s non-profit partner Alaska Youth Orchestra. Many of our activity groups will be continuing through the summer, and based on feedback from membership we will also continue offering opportunities to socialize, so look for more details in the monthly Communique, and don’t forget to join the APWA Facebook Group (if you don’t use Facebook just email [email protected] and I will add you to my mailing list). As always, we encourage all of our members to consider their own risk and decide on their comfort level before participating in any APWA scheduled activities or events. Open and respectful communication will help everyone feel safe and respected. As always, I am happy to hear from our members, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. Warm regards, Kirsten Tschofen President |
